With a background that includes biomedicine and anesthesiology, Donald Ayers, MD, has worked in private practice and, more recently, in information technology consulting. As a consultant, he advises hospitals on the adoption and use of electronic health records. In the last year, Donald Ayers has helped doctors and nursing personnel in hospitals in North Carolina and Missouri to use the new technology correctly. With his guidance, these hospitals have streamlined their patient check-in processes and have seen an increasing rate of policy compliance among administrative assistants.
Outside of his professional duties, Donald Ayers volunteers his time with the American Red Cross. He has taken on multiple roles with the organization, including communicating with military families and delivering supplies to veterans’ rehabilitation facilities.
Earlier, from 2010 to 2012, Donald Ayers spent an hour a week at the Boaz and Ruth Community Center, where he helped formerly incarcerated people to prepare for employment. He taught computer skills and coached program participants on resume writing and interviewing.
